- Deep Color Foam can help mattress makers to differentiate their products
- Color is a powerful tool that can communicate brand & features to consumers
- Milliken to exhibit at Interzum 2017 in Cologne from May 16-19
Ghent, Belgium — Deep Color Foam is an important trend, giving mattress manufacturers the opportunity to diversify their product lines and stand apart from the competition. Milliken Chemical has the tools to make Deep Color Foam a reality, and will be showcasing the bright, bold end results at Interzum 2017.
That show, which takes place May 16-19 in Cologne, Germany, is the world’s leading trade show for furniture production and interior design. Milliken will occupy Stand A-027 in Hall 11.1 at the biennial fair.
Color turns an ordinary foam into something special. “When it comes to foam mattresses, color is a force to be reckoned with,” noted Antoni Puig, product line manager, EMEA – PU Colorants & Additives. “It can stir up or ease emotions, while grabbing consumers’ attention, telling them it’s their favorite brand, suggesting the product has certain qualities, or highlighting the various, differentiating characteristics such as comfort, resilience or breathability that PU foam can bring to a mattress. Color can be one of your product’s strongest assets by helping in any number of areas — from branding, differentiation and personalization, to highlighting and marketing. In fact, most consumers cite color as a primary reason for buying a product.”
Milliken supports foamers who offer Deep Color Foam with its Reactint® colorant technology for coloring polyurethane. Reactint colorants are reactive polymeric liquid colorants that consist of chromophores that chemically bind to polyols. The colorant reacts into the polyurethane polymer matrix, yielding deep, vibrant shades of foam. Milliken offers several primary colors for polyurethane slabstock — blue, orange, red, yellow, violet and black, but also can formulate custom blends to make virtually any color of the rainbow.
Visitors can see and feel the results up close at Interzum, where Milliken will be displaying a mattress colored with Reactint. Milliken also will be sharing its stand with Encapsys, LLC, a U.S.-based leader in encapsulation and coating technology. Encapsys’ broad product portfolio includes EnFinit® encapsulated PCM (Phase Change Materials) for bedding, cushions, medical devices, footwear, apparel and other consumer-comfort products. Its encapsulated PCM is bio based and formaldehyde free, provides lasting cooling comfort and has superior thermal performance, prompting the tagline “Experience Personal Comfort Management…with EnFinit.”
At Interzum, Encapsys will display a foam that incorporates EnFinit PCM and is colored with a deep blue Reactint. The rich blue color reinforces the foam’s special feature and clearly demonstrates how color can be used for differentiation.
