Octyltriethoxysilane Emulsion in Water (70%)
SiVance Silane Emulsion 70 is a water-based alkylalkoxysilane containing seventy percent (70%) active alkoxysilane emulsified in water.
Silane Emulsion 70 is designed to deposit a hydrophobic silane treatment to inorganic substrates. Alkoxysilanes react readily with inorganic materials such as glass, mica, talc, titanium dioxide or wollastonite to form a durable treatment. Due to the highly organic nature of alkyl silane treatments, they improve the compatibility of inorganic materials in organic resins, both thermoplastic and thermoset.
Silane Emulsion 70 is designed for easy dilution in water and is mixable in all proportions with water and also with many aqueous solutions of chemicals such as polymer latices or even aqueous solutions of prehydrolyzed organofunctional silanes.
Silane Emulsion 70 can be used to impart a more hydrophobic nature to the resin/inorganic modifier interface and cementitious surfaces.
Silane Emulsion 70 has been shown to soften fiberglass fabric to provide a more pliable cloth for hand lay-up applications.
Silane Emulsion 70 is by design a water dilutable product. Mixing with aqueous systems can be easily accomplished by simple blending with minimal shear. High shear mixing should be avoided to minimize foaming and reduction of emulsion stability.
